Medical thermal imaging

I am now offering Medical Thermal Imaging in both Leavenworth and Poulsbo. I have been studying the benefits of Medical Thermal Imaging for the use of early detection of breast cancer for the past two years. I am confident that this is an excellent screening tool for the early detection of breast cancer, musculoskeletal, vascular, and other medical problems. Medical Thermal Imaging was FDA approved for Breast Cancer Screening in the early 1980s. Initially, it was felt that Medical Thermal Imaging was "too sensitive" and had too many "false positives." In other words, it showed breast cancer when there was no cancer actually present. In fact, when the women in the study were followed, the majority showed positive findings on mammography approximately 5-7 years later. The reason for this is that in order for a tumor to be seen on Mammogram, it must have at least 1 billion cells. Most average growing breast cancers take seven years to reach a size containing one billion cells. Therefore, by the time you have a tumor show up on Mammogram, you have had cancer for seven years.

In addition, although currently the most widely used screening tool for the early detection of breast cancer, Mammogram does have some flaws. In women with fibrocystic breasts, Mammograms miss breast cancers 15-20% of the time. In addition, there is significant radiation exposure with Mammogram. It has been estimated that one Mammogram contains the same amount of radiation as 25 chest x-rays. Also, Mammogram requires "squishing" of the breast tissue, which may cause damage to the underlying cells.

A preventative tool

Medical Thermal Imaging is an incredible preventative tool. My hope is that if we can detect breast cancer in a very early stage (before it is actually a tumor), treatment modalities can be used to try to change the course of the cancer. We know for certain that the sooner you detect cancer the better the chance for cure. Many women wonder if Medical Thermal Imaging should take the place of Mammography. I think this is a decision to be made individually with your health care provider. Some women will want to do both and some may feel that Thermal Imaging alone is right for them. Again, I think this should be made on an individual basis.

Medical Thermal Imaging is also becoming a common screening modality in the areas of cancer detection, neuromuscular injury, and circulatory problems, such as inflammation in the arteries with heart disease. As a physiological imaging modality that assesses body function, it can indicate developing disease states earlier than anatomical examinations, such as regular X-rays, CT, or MRI. It is highly accurate and 100% safe. Having Medical Thermal Imaging done is like having your picture taken with a digital camera. The room is a little cool, but that is the extent of the discomfort.
